La construcción exterior más habitual: tubos holgados de PBT rellenos de gel cableados alrededor de un elemento central de acero, armadura de laminado aluminio-polietileno y cubierta de PE. Ligero para su resistencia; la armadura de aluminio ahorra peso donde el acero sería excesivo.

The fibers are positioned in a loose tube made of high modulus plastic and filled with gel. Tubes (and fillers) are stranded around the metallic strength member to form the cable core filled with water blocking compound. An Aluminum tape (APL) is armored longitudinally around the core. Finally a PE jacket is extruded.
